In order to become a dog trainer, you will need to undertake some form of training or study. Different dog trainer schools will approach the business of making you a dog trainer in different ways. If you are seeking to become a professional dog trainer for some special purpose (such as training seeing eye dogs)
then you may need to find a dog trainer school that will enable you to perform this role.

Getting Certification for Being a Dog Trainer

Some countries and states require you to receive certification as a dog trainer before you can begin training dogs. Even if you do not legally need to get your certification, it is worthwhile doing so. Firstly, it will ensure that you are able to train dogs. Secondly, it will make dog owners more likely to approach you and see you as a suitable dog trainer.

The CCPDT (certification council of pet dog trainers) offers a program that allows dog trainers to take a test of basic dog training. Once you learn how to become a dog trainer and gain the necessary experience in order to sit for the test, this certification will show everybody that you a certified dog trainer and have the necessary skills to train dogs.
